Hello! CatLady Crafts is a professional handmade giftshop doing business in the heart of the Haight/Ashbury of San Francisco, California. I started my homebased business after my elderly roommate became ill and needed 24-hour care. Since I worked in the medical field it has been very helpful that I could take care of him. I also, suffer from anxiety and panic disorder and crafting has been a great way to reduce my attacks. In 2014, I adopted a sweet four-month-old cat from the SFSPCA in Pacific Heights. My cat Ronnie has also been a huge part in helping with my disorder. Regardless of the situation, I feel very blessed to have this opportunity to create unique, handmade, well-crafted and original products. 

Inspiration

My inspiration came from my love for nature, animals and my family. I grew up on a farm, and my family were salt of the earth ranchers and farmers who could turn the harshest most unforgiving land into a thriving garden. The women in my family were very talented not only in their green thumb expertise, but canning, cooking from scratch and designing and sewing clothes from an antique Singer machine. Living on a farm growing up was very wholesome and hopefully, I can get back to that life someday.  My grandmother was one of the Rosie the Riveters who sewed the parachutes for the soldiers in WWII. Yay Grandma! I tend to believe my love for the arts and crafts is in my ancestral DNA, even my grandkids have this talent. 

Mission

My dream for the future is to work remotely and live in a tiny home with a small patch of land where I can have a few chickens, garden and space to do my crafts out of the hustle and bustle of the city. It would be nice to go off grid and reduce my footprint at some point. I am not looking to become rich selling my crafts. I only want to live a quiet, comfortable life doing what I love. My purpose in life is to give back. I will be taking a percentage of my monthly sales that will be donated to animal shelters in hopes of giving abandoned animals a new chance at life and forever home. 

Products

Many of my products are made from natural resources, family-owned businesses and some I design myself. I prefer buying from local or American companies that are small businesses and a way to pay forward through my own creations. The most important thing to me is customer service. I don't want my customers to feel like the next order I want them to feel like family and know when they buy from me, they will get a product made from the heart and the highest quality I can provide. Once I get the order, I will have it processed and shipped out within 1-2 days. When people get their item quickly and well packaged, I think that builds trust and a relationship that is lasting.
